Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. In Reiki we use our hands to pass on or transmit energy to the recipient. It helps, supports in improving the flow and balance of energy.

Mikao Usui developed reiki in the early 1900s, deriving the term from the Japanese words’ rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Now, reiki is used all over the world, including in hospitals and hospices, to complement other forms of health treatments.

How Can Reiki Help?

Reiki aids the recipient who is open and sensitive to the energy flow gains by becoming energetically balanced — physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

  • Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being.

  • Reiki helps cultivate a meditative state.

  • Stimulate your body’s immune system.

  • Promote natural self-healing.

  • Relieve pain and tension.

  • Support the well-being of people receiving traditional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and kidney dialysis.

Reiki is universal life force energy, the healing works from inside out, our emotions, mind and body. Helps us with our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing, and well-being. Not specific to any one ailment, Reiki is known to help people with:

  • Cancer, radiation, or chemotherapy pain relief.

  • Chronic pain relief.

  • Digestive problems.

  • Psychological distress, including depression and anxiety.

  • Stress-related illnesses.

Studies reveal that reiki nurtures, enlivens the feelings of Peace, Relaxation and over all Wellness. As a caution, I would like to add that Reiki should not be used as a substitute for the consultation of a physician or a psychotherapist. Reiki is a complimentary therapy, and complements other types of medical and therapeutic treatments, and it can increase the efficacy of other types of healing and allopathic treatments.

How Reiki Works?

Reiki practitioners act as a channel between you and the source of the universal life force energy. The energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to you. The energy travels through to the parts which need more attention and gently healing the body as a whole. The session is non-invasive, and usually Reiki treatments last about 30 to 40 minutes. A quick or focused session can also be for 15 minutes or so, focusing only on the area which needs immediate attention.  Reiki differs from other touch therapies in that there is no pressure, massage or manipulation involved. The hands are kept at least six inches away from the body of the client.

Recipients may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where the Reiki practitioner has placed their hands. Sometimes, people feel moving sensations throughout the body. Each has their own experience, and some do not perceive any change at all. But most people feel relaxed, peaceful during reiki sessions, and many fall asleep during reiki.
